Bro•kən / Pat•tərn: Fragments of thoughts, listed in chronological order, seperated through time, to convey and recount the story of a life.
Broken Pattern is Trevor Burnett's (b.Nov 24, 1989) debut work. It's a collection of short stories, experiences, observations, and poetry, all sandwiched between hand-drawn pictures and photographs. The stories, taking place anywhere from Needles, TX to Gamboa, Panama, peer into the developing mind of a young adult who's grown up and embraced all the distractions that Montréal has to offer.
Created during his first year of Cegep (the Quebec equivalent of Junior College), the book contains a vast array of written works, as well as full-coloured reproductions of art, both crafted by hand and through the lense of a camera. Often using his book as an excuse for larger ventures, Trevor likes to refer to Broken Pattern as his degree, as well as a platform (or excuse) to speak his mind.
Currently, Trevor has appeard on a couple of radio shows and is planning a cross country tour to coincide with his move to British Columbia. Future projects include working on BrokenPattern.ca, as well as DarkLabStudios.com as a whole, as well as hosting a radio station on Innercircle's Aware Talk Radio.
If that's not enough to entice you, feel free to browse through the book below. We've included the first 18 pages, as well as some interesting information about the author.
